The Laptev Sea is the part of the Arctic Ocean, which is partially enclosed by between the northern coast of Siberia and the Severnaya Zemlya and New Siberian archipelagos. With normally below freezing temperatures, the sea is frozen over most of the year, and is partially clear in August and September. Its average depth is about 578 meters (1,896 ft). At its maximum depth, it reaches to 11,106 ft (3,385 m).
